Waxahatchee has tapped MJ Lenderman for a new cover of Lucinda Williams’ “Abandoned,” from her 1988 self-titled album. Katie Crutchfield recorded the song as part of Apple Music Nashville Sessions, a three-track EP that she also put out today exclusively on Apple Music. Listen to it below.

This live, stripped-down EP follows Tigers Blood, Waxahatchee’s sixth full-length and one of the best albums of the year. It was led by the single “Right Back to It,” which also features Lenderman on guitar and vocals, as well as “Bored” and “365.” Crutchfield, her band, and Lenderman later stopped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to perform “Right Back to It” in conjunction with the album’s release.

Crutchfield has also announced that she’s curating an event at Willie Nelson’s Spicewood, Texas, Luck Ranch. The show takes place on March 14 and will feature Waxahatchee, Lucinda Williams and Futurebirds, Bill Callahan, Kam Franklin, Brennan Wedl, and others. See a poster below.
