Paramount on Thursday at CinemaCon unveiled new footage from Scary Movie, the first installment in the horror spoof franchise of the same name since 2013.
It opens with Ghostface from the Scream films in a Get Out hypnotism sequence with Marlon Wayans, where he floats out into another dimension saying, “I’m high as f*ck!”
We also see trick-or-treaters shouting “6-7” getting roped into a Weapons homage, SNL alum Cheri Oteri getting The Substance, Anna Faris whacking a guy out of Smile who is actually a harmless mental patient, a dorky county music performance from the vampires from Sinners, Chris Elliott as Longlegs, and more.
Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Anna Faris were on hand today to promote the film in Las Vegas.
They said they’d heard a rumor that R-rated comedies don’t work at the box office, with Faris declaring, “That’s f*cking bullsh*t.”
Marlon Wayans then rolled out a scroll including people “who may or may not get their feelings hurt” by the film, who he wanted to apologize to, including: “white people, Black people, off-white people, Mexicans, Mexican’ts, Asians, the entire state of Vermont, Diddy, Diddy’s cleaning lady, baby oil in general,” and more.
The new Scary Movie picks up with the Core Four 26 years after they outran a suspiciously familiar masked killer known as Ghostface. They’re back in the killer’s crosshairs, and no horror movie IP is safe. Marlon Wayans (“Shorty”), Shawn Wayans (“Ray”), Anna Faris (“Cindy”), and Regina Hall (“Brenda”) reunite alongside returning favorites and new faces to slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spinoffs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every “final chapter” that absolutely isn’t final. Nothing is sacred. No trope survives. Every line gets crossed.The Wayans are back to cancel the Cancel Culture.
