DakotaJohnson’splaybook for the Cannes Film Festival came with a surprising start.
As the actress arrived at the prestigious event in France for her upcoming film Splitsville, she stopped to see an old friend before anything else.
“The first thing I did when I got to Cannes on Saturday,” Dakota told Vogue in a May 21 interview, “I went and surprised Jennifer Lawrence at her after-party for her movie.”
After all, the Oscar winner has been celebrating in her own right after receiving a standing ovation for her film Die, My Love at the festival.
“She was like, ‘Stop following me!'” Dakota teased of their interaction. “That’s why I’m here.”
Seeing a familiar face ahead of Cannes was a respite for the 50 Shades of Grey actress, who had never attended.
“It’s fun to have a movie here that I produced,” she said, adding, “It would suck if people didn’t like it, but that happens and you move on quickly.”
