With Bob Hearts Abishola and Young Sheldon ending, Chuck Lorre won’t have a show on CBS for the first time in more than 20 years, meaning it’s an uncertain time for this producer of some of the most popular sitcoms of the 21st century.

“When I started a long time ago, there were probably maybe 40 or more situation comedies on network television,” Lorre, who started out as a TV writer on shows like Charles in Charge and Roseanne, observed to The Wrap in December 2023. “What are there now, like, maybe five or six? I think that it’s a pretty good parallel to a dinosaur watching an asteroid coming hurtling towards the Earth.”

Then again, Lorre has mourned the decline of TV sitcoms before. “And then somebody comes along and does something wonderful with the form,” he said. “Suddenly, it’s a genuinely legitimate form again.”

As for his own Hollywood story, Lorre has branched out in recent years, swapping out broadcast TV for streaming and comedy for drama — well, comedy-drama. Below, check out all the television shows Lorre has created or executive-produced, ranked by viewer rating on IMDb.
