Jeremy Renner is opening up about whether he’s down to reprise his role as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

He spoke to Entertainment Tonight recently, more than a year after his near-fatal snowplow accident on Jan. 1, 2023, about potentially returning to The Avengers franchise.

“I’m always game,” Renner said. “I’m gonna be strong enough, that’s for sure. I’ll be ready.”

The Mayor of Kingstown actor, who broke 30 bones after being run over by a 14,300-pound snowcat at his home in Reno, Nevada, also shared how supportive his MCU costars have been.

“All those guys come to my bedside and they’ve been with me all along through this recovery, so… if they want me, they could have me,” he added. “It would be something.”

Elsewhere in his interview, Renner gave an update on his health and recovery journey.

“[I’m doing] probably 90 percent of all the things I needed to be doing… I think another six months will be hopefully running [more]… I got to set goals for myself. I’ll do whatever I can… whatever it takes to get better, to get stronger,” The Hurt Locker actor said. “It’s a one-way street, this recovery. The rest of my life is about health and wellness. Recovery will be part of the rest of my life, so I look forward to it, man. There’s always something to do to get better, be stronger, be happier, be healthier, and that’s what I look forward to.”

He added, “It’s hard for me to look back, to be honest with you. It’s hard for me to look forward. I focus on now and this next step in front of me, ’cause there’s always another obstacle for me right now.”

Last month, Renner revealed that he had returned to work on his Paramount+ drama Mayor of Kingstown, which began filming its third season. “Day one on set … nervous today,” he wrote on Instagram at the time. “Hope this works out that I can ACTUALLY pull this off for our production and more importantly the fans.”

When previously opening up about the devastating accident, Renner said that he was attempting to stop the PistenBully from hitting his nephew when he got pulled underneath it.

Then in an April 2023 interview with ABC News‘ Diane Sawyer, the actor shared that he had to have his rib cage rebuilt with metal, along with metal plates in his face to support his eye socket and titanium rods in one of his legs. It was a long road to recovery for him, and he continued to post updates for his fans on social media throughout the year.
