Matmos’ Drew Daniel has announced his latest album under his pseudonym the Soft Pink Truth. The follow-up to 2016’s Why Pay More? is called Shall We Go On Sinning…, and it’s out May 1 via Thrill Jockey. Listen to the album’s first single “We” below.

“The election of Donald Trump made me feel very angry and sad, but I didn’t want to make ‘angry white guy’ music in a purely reactive mode,” Daniel said. “I felt that I needed to make music through a different process, and to a different emotional outcome, to get past a private feeling of powerlessness by making musical connections with friends and people I admire, to make something that felt socially extended and affirming.”

Last year, Matmos released their new album Plastic Anniversary, which was recorded entirely using plastic objects. Read “How Experimental Musicians Are Soundtracking the End of the World.”
