Thor: Love and Thunder: Looks Like Jaimie Alexander Wants Lady Sif To Return

The Thor franchise has had perhaps the most fascinating tenure in theaters out of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. The first movie set up the God of Thunder, although The Dark World failed to impress critics or fans. But new life was breathed into the property with Thor: Ragnarok, as director Taika Waititi broke all the rules and took the title character into the cosmos for a colorful and quirky new adventure.

Moviegoers were thrilled to hear that Taika Waititi would be returning for Thor: Love and Thunder, marking the first time a Marvel hero would be getting a fourth solo flick. Waititi will no doubt make liberal changes to the cannon, bringing back Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster and giving her the powers of Mighty Thor. So could more familiar faces return, like Jaimie Alexander’s Lady Sif? The Blindspot actress recently put her two cents in on the matter on social media, check it out below.

Not only is Jaimie Alexander hoping that Lady Sif returns to the MCU in Thor: Love and Thunder, but she’s specifically interested in the character becoming Valkyrie’s Queen of Asgard. Sounds like a match made in the heavens.

Jaimie Alexander made her interest in the Thor four-quel known via Twitter, when she responded to a thread about who should be Valkyrie’s Queen in Love and Thunder. While there are plenty of new characters that might be introduced to fill this role, Alexander believes Lady Sif would be a great choice. They are both badass Asgardian warriors, after all.

This conversation about Valkyrie’s queen came from Thor: Love and Thunder‘s appearance at San Diego Comic-Con. While speaking with the excited crowd at Hall H, Tessa Thompson revealed that Valkyrie would be looking for her Queen, now that the character is officially ruling New Asgard. And since Lady Sif’s fate was never revealed in Thor: Ragnarok, she might be a viable choice for Thompson’s character.

Taika Waititi shattered expectations with Ragnarok, and destroyed Asgard and most of its denizens in the process. Following Odin’s death, Waititi showed Hela’s true evil and power by unceremoniously killing the Warriors Three at Bifrost Bridge. But Lady Sif was noticeably missing from the threequel, as Jaimie Alexander had a scheduling conflict and couldn’t film her brief apperance. As such, she’s presumably still alive, as long as she escaped Asgard before Surtur destroyed it.

Of course, Lady Sif could have died when Thanos massacred the Asgardians in Avengers: Infinity War‘s opening scene, and it’s unclear if she was turned to dust a result of Thanos’ snap. The character’s official fate is unclear, so Taika Waititi could easily bring her back for Thor: Love and Thunder. Since Jane is returning after her absence in Ragnarok, there’s certainly been precedent set.

Natalie Portman’s return to the Thor franchise isn’t something the fans expected, as it seemed like the character Jane had more or less run her course in the MCU. But clearly Taika Waititi is happy to one again surprise audiences. And since Love is in the fourth movie’s title, we should expect romance to play a major role in the upcoming blockbuster. Let’s just hope that means for Lady Sif too.

Thor: Love and Thunder will arrive in theaters on November 5th, 2021. In the meantime, check out our 2019 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
