Tonight at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel announced plans to reboot the film Blade. Mahershala Ali will step into the title role, following in the footsteps of Wesley Snipes, The Hollywood Reporter notes. Snipes and Kris Kristofferson starred in the trilogy of vampire hunter films between 1998 and 2004. The final film, Blade: Trinity, featured music from RZA.

Ali recently starred in the third season of HBO’s “True Detective.” Earlier this year he won his second Oscar (after Moonlight) for his performance in Green Book. That film won Best Picture, which prompted a walk-out attempt from Spike Lee.
