On March 20, Los Angeles label Temporal Drift will reissue the late Japanese composer Hiroshi Yoshimura’s album Flora. The reissue was done in full cooperation with Yoshimura’s estate, and the new editions feature liner notes from the writer and professor Junichi Konuma. The album was remastered by engineer John Baldwin. Below, listen to the album’s opening song, “Over the Clover.”

Yoshimura recorded Flora in 1987, following his 1986 works Green and Surround. The album, however, did not see the light of day until a CD release in 2006. Temporal Drift’s reissue marks the first time that Flora will be available widely on vinyl, CD, and cassette, and digitally.

Yoshimura died, in 2003, at the age of 63. A 2017 reissue of his debut album, Music for Nine Postcards, brought newfound attention to the Japanese ambient music pioneer and his work.
