Back in the 1990s and early 2000s, Thursday nights on NBC meant ER (at 10/9c). And somehow, the 2024-2025 season has become a bit of a blast from the past when it comes to that hit medical drama, with Law & Order taking that to a new level with the next episode.

Maura Tierney, who starred as nurse-turned-doctor Abby Lockhart for 10 seasons of ER, is now a series regular on Law & Order, airing Thursdays on NBC (at 8/7c, but close enough). Noah Wyle‘s once again playing a doctor on a medical drama on Thursday nights (The Pitt drops new episodes at 9/8c, on Max). Eriq La Salle‘s newest show, On Call, debuted on a Thursday on Prime Video (which by itself wouldn’t be notable, but add in everything else…) And now, it’s a major ER reunion in the January 23 episode of Law & Order, and the promo certainly plays that up.

Tierney will be reuniting onscreen with Mekhi Phifer (who played Dr. Greg Pratt for eight seasons), and the episode is directed by La Salle (who starred as Dr. Peter Benton for eight seasons); he was also behind the camera earlier this season on the NBC drama. Tierney’s Brady will have Phifer’s character in an interrogation room, and she tells him, “Your daughter was getting pimped out by him.” He then tells Price (Hugh Dancy), “That bastard got what he deserved.” But, as the ADA argues in court, “you don’t get to kill someone because he is vile.” Watch the promo above.

In “Greater Good,” when a music mogul is found dead, Shaw (Mehcad Brooks) and Riley (Reid Scott) clash with an undercover officer unwilling to cooperate. Plus, Price and Baxter (Tony Goldwyn) disagree on whether the victim’s reputation could help or hinder the jury’s decision in the case.

As Tierney told TV Insider while looking back at her career, “I was sort of a bridge between the original crew [and the new one on ER]. I was there when a lot of them left, and then a lot of people came on. We’re all still friends, and we had a blast doing that show.”
