Benji Gregory has died. Multiple outlets report that the child star, who played Brian Tanner on ALF in the ’80s, died on June 13 for causes yet to be determined. He was 46.

The actor’s sister, Rebecca, told TMZ, who was first to report the news, that Benji was found dead in his car at a bank parking lot in Peoria, Arizona.

Rebecca believes that her brother — who suffered from depression, bipolar disorder and had a sleep disorder that could keep him awake for days — fell asleep in his car and died from vehicular heatstroke amid the summer heat.

Benji was with his service dog, Hans, who also died during the incident, Rebecca told the outlet.

To honor Benji, Rebecca told the outlet people can make donations to The Actors Equity Foundation or the ASPCA, causes he would have supported.

Benji started his career on TV with guest spots on The A-TeamPunky Brewster and The Twilight Zone. On ALF, Benji played the middle child in a family that had an alien living in their home. The series also starred Max Wright, Anne Schedeen and Andrea Elson.

After playing Brian on more than 100 episodes of ALF, the outlet reported that Benji left the entertainment business to enlist in the U.S. Navy, which he got an honorable medical discharge from in 2005.
