Days after taking her second Best Actress Oscar for Poor Things, Emma Stone‘s next movie with Yorgos Lanthimos, Kinds of Kindness, has set a theatrical release date of June 21 this summer. Searchlight just made the news official about their third feature project with Lanthimos after the Oscar winning The Favourite and Poor Things.

The Favourite and Poor Things launched in Q4 parts of the calendar; this is the first Searchlight Lanthimos release to go in summer, which raises speculation that this movie could go to Cannes. The last Lanthimos movie to go to Cannes was 2017’s The Killing of a Sacred Dear.

Kinds of Kindness also stars Poor Things‘ co-star Willem Dafoe. The movie also stars Jesse Plemons, Hong Chau, Margaret Qualley, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie, and Hunter Schafer.

Lanthimos at the Golden Globes described the movie as follows: “It’s three contemporary stories, and there’s a core of actors — seven total — who play one character in each story,”:” he said. “So, they’ll play three different characters.” The filmmaker mentioned back in January he was currently editing Kind of Kindness.

Also opening on June 21 this year is Focus Features/New Regency’s The Bikeriders and Sony’s Colleen Hoover’s It Ends With Us.

Poor Things grossed $108.7M worldwide and notched four Oscar wins including Best Actress, Make-Up and Hairstyling, Costume Design and Production Design. In total Poor Things counted 11 Oscar noms, including Best Picture, Mark Ruffalo Best Supporting Actor and Lanthimos Best Director.

The Favourite grossed over $95M WW and won a Best Actress Oscar for Olivia Colman.

Also, in other Disney release date news — the studio removed a Sept. 6 date this year from the sked.
