Doja Cat has unveiled an updated cover for new album Scarlet after people noted its striking similarity to that of a new album from German metallic hardcore trio Chaver. The two records, both due out on September 22, originally bore artwork featuring paintings of dark pink arachnids beneath a dot of liquid. Both images were made by the artist Dusty Ray. Doja Cat’s new art instead features a pair of arachnids with orblike pink bodies locking their mouths together. Check out the new art below, and scroll down for the original cover and the art for Chaver’s Of Gloom.
Announcing Of Gloom, Chaver wrote, “The striking cover art, masterfully crafted by Dusty Ray @sloppjockey_ert (who has been with us since our first album), serves as a captivating contrast to the album’s intense music, setting the stage for a trip to a place of pain.”
Of Gloom, which Chaver describe as “a trip to a place of pain,” will be released via BDHW and follows the Leipzig group’s 2020 album, A Cellar Door.
Doja Cat’s last album was 2021’s Planet Her. The singles “Attention” and “Paint the Town Red” preceded the new record, and the Scarlet Tour will follow it.
