Tory Lanez Denied New Trial After Filing Appeal of Megan Thee Stallion Shooting Conviction

The Canadian rapper and singer faces more than 20 years in prison

Tory Lanez has been denied a new trial after being found guilty in December of shooting Megan Thee Stallion, journalist Meghann Cuniff reports. The Canadian rapper and singer had recently appealed his conviction on the felony charges of assault with a semiautomatic handgun, carrying a concealed gun in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm in a negligent manner. “In the end, the jury believed the prosecution’s case beyond a reasonable doubt,” Judge David V. Herriford told Lanez and his lawyers, according to Cuniff.

Lanez’s sentencing date has been pushed back multiple times due to his appeal. A new sentencing date has not yet been announced. The musician faces more than 20 years in prison.
