Noname Says New Album Sundial Is Out in July

The Chicago rapper has given an update on her long-awaited follow-up to Room 25

Noname has announced her next album, titled Sundial. The Chicago rapper revealed the news on Instagram this morning (April 9), writing that the new record will arrive this July. Find her post below.

Noname released her second album Room 25 in September 2018. The following year, she shared the songs “Song 31” and “Song 32” before joining Saba and Smino on “Häagen Dazs” (the trio released the track as Ghetto Sage). In the fall of 2019, Noname initially announced the follow-up to Room 25 in a since-deleted tweet. “I don’t really talk about my music much on here,” she wrote at the time,” “but I’m dropping an album 2020 if anybody’s interested.” The album did not materialize.

In the summer of 2019, Noname launched an online book club, and spent much of 2020 expanding its platform and working on racial justice outreach. In June of that year, she responded to criticism levied in J Cole’s “Snow on tha Bluff” with the Madlib-produced “Song 33,” but she later expressed regret for “any further distraction [it] caused” on Twitter.

Noname’s most recent single “Rainforest” arrived in 2021. The song was produced by the Kount and features vocals from Adam Ness. At the time of its release, the track was meant for Noname’s next album, then titled Factory Baby, which was scheduled for release in 2021. It is not yet clear if “Rainforest” will appear on Sundial.
