Lizzo took the stage at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night (August 28), performing her Special track “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready).” She performed the song in front of a giant screen, lining up her dance moves to look like they were interacting with the visuals on display behind her, and finished by letting out a joyful scream into the microphone. Lizzo was up for a handful trophies at this year’s VMAs, including Artist of the Year. Special’s lead single “About Damn Time” was nominated for Song of the Year, Best Pop, and Video for Good. She debuted “Special” on Saturday Night Live before bringing “About Damn Time” to the BET Awards. She shared a video for “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready),” which picked up where her 2018 “Truth Hurts” visual left off, earlier this month.
