For anyone who is a die-hard lover of cinema and all its variations, there’s a new performer in town that will strike your fancy. Her name is Linda Collins, and she’s an actor and producer who has been quietly rising through the ranks of the independent and streaming film circuits. Collins’ career began with booking roles on varied television shows.

These included appearances in I’d Kill for You, Stalked, a noteworthy role in Redrum, Evil I, and a role in the cult, docu-horror series Monsters Inside Me. She then transitioned to appearing in feature film projects, with a notable supporting performance in Burning Blue, Contest, and a leading role in Chef’s House. Soon afterwards, Collins began acting and producing in projects she would shepherd the development of herself. Accomplishments in the latter field include the films Three for the Road, Mary Jane’s Tribulations, and the independent feature film projects Dying to Love You and The Stable. Tonally Collins’ own, distinctive brand of work and performance feels like an apt marriage of Flannery O’Connor and the kind of dark, social commentary of a Richard Bates Jr.

There’s never a sense Collins stretches herself out of where she fits, but within the limitations of her performative aura she never disappoints, or repeats the same process over and over. She’s distinctive character actor material, and these days the term ‘actor’ is finally overshadowing the more ideologically flippant term ‘movie star’. In an era where the exclusivity of certain institutions has been shaken up by remote meetings, mandated work-from-home routines, and the sudden competition of both established and home-made products on universal, web-based platforms, talent like Collins has the opportunity to shine. You have the feeling she’s just getting started, thus far already having accomplished some considerably hefty work in the process.

Collins’ passion for the arts isn’t just reflected in her filmography choices. She’s a noted patron to arts charities in both the United States and Canada, receiving a national appointment to serve a three year position on the Canadian Advisory Committee on the Status of the Artist in Ottawa. She also has served as an assistant to the International President of the American Federation of Musicians based in New York City. For Collins, it’s clear that acting isn’t just a job for her, it’s an outlet. Despite her continued success in both television and film, she continually studies at New York’s T. Schreiber Studio with noted acting coaches Terry Schreiber and Peter Miner respectively.

Collins also displays a noteworthy versatility in music, her original medium of choice before sidelining into the film business. Attending college, she principally studied musical theories, graduating with a Master in Music degree from Northern Illinois University. Despite this, it’s clear for Collins that acting has always remained her true passion. Her performances carry a sense of conviction and determination whose intense energy is very infectious. I can’t wait to see what she continues to do as she continues the climb the filmic ladder, hopefully achieving the widespread acclaim and prominence she so clearly deserves…
