Neil Diamond’s anthem “Sweet Caroline” is a beloved singalong, but it appears that he realizes that its message of “touching hands” doesn’t quite work in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Today, he shared a video where he encouraged a singalong of the song. When he reached the pre-chorus, he sang some rewritten lyrics: “Hands/Washing hands/Reaching out/Don’t touch me/I won’t touch you.” Watch the video, which includes a very good cameo from his dog, below.

Diamond’s video arrives two years after he retired from touring after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. “Sweet Caroline” was on Pitchfork’s list of “The 200 Best Songs of the 1960s.”
