In the tribute Instagram post, Andy Muschietti is seen whispering in Bill Hader’s ear during the dinner sequence where the Losers Club reunite. He playfully calls him “asshole,” while also bringing up a funny behind-the-scenes tidbit between them involving the Italian director telling him to dance like Patrick Swayze. Check out Bill Hader joke about him and director’s relationship on set:

Since Bill Hader just won a prestigious award, Andy Muschietti seems to be lightly firing back at the actor poking fun at his direction technique! And why not? It worked, didn’t it? Hader’s portrayal of Ritchie Tozier is a massive highlight of IT Chapter Two, with quite an emotional character arc. The actor plays the adult counterpart of Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard, and has even garnered some early Oscar buzz in the supporting actor category.

Could Bill Hader score a coveted EGOT? He already had the Emmy portion down, so could Oscar be in his future too? It would be a quite uncharacteristic pick for the Academy to recognize an actor in a horror movie, and a sequel at that, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve to be in the conversation. Perhaps, he’ll be nominated for a Golden Globe for Ritchie, in addition to getting more love for his HBO show.

The actor created Barry with Alex Berg (Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Silicon Valley) and has gained massive critical acclaim, including 29 total Emmy nominations and three Golden Globe nominations. The show won three Sunday night, giving Hader his second Emmy in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series category. Hader’s show Documentary Now! also had four nominations that night as well.

Bill Hader is swimming in love right now! IT Chapter Two is still doing great at the box office too with $386 million in worldwide earnings. In its third weekend, it moved to the No. 4 position under new releases Downton Abbey, Ad Astra and Rambo: Last Blood.

Andy Muschietti recently revealed possible plans to release a supercut of the two IT films in a giant over six hour epic, and Hader will soon star in the Disney+ original movie Noelle alongside Anna Kendrick, Billy Eichner and Shirley MacLaine when the streaming service launches on November 12.
