The first trailer for Lifetime’s The College Admissions Scandal movie has dropped, and it’s got just about all the “based on a true story” drama you could ask for!

Based on the true story ripped from 2019 headlines, The College Admissions Scandal stars Penelope Ann Miller and Mia Kirshner as two mothers with means who will do anything to get their kids into the right college. Even if that anything means paying off admissions officers, faking SAT test scores, and photoshopping sports and extra-curricular photos. Obviously these stories bear a striking resemblance to the stories of Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin, who were accused of the same crimes in the very public scandals that hit newsstands in March of 2019.

The film also centers on the charming admissions consultant Rick Singer (Michael Shanks), who offers these mothers a side-door into the prestigious institutes they dream of their children attending. But when Singer starts cooperating with the FBI, the whole house of cards begins to fall.

The College Admissions Scandal premieres Oct. 12 at 8/7c on Lifetime.
