Ant-Man And The Wasp’s Ghost Teases Her Return To The MCU

Actress Hannah John-Kamen is currently voicing a character in Netflix’s The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, but she is perhaps best known for her roles in two 2018 films, Ready Player One and Ant-Man and the Wasp. In the latter film, she played Ava Starr, also known as Ghost, the film’s antagonist who turned out to be suffering from an unstable quantum state due to an accident. Now Hannah John-Kamen is teasing her possible return to the MCU, saying:

Hannah John-Kamen obviously can’t say much, because as she notes and as we are all well aware, being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe requires intense secrecy. She likens it to signing a contract with blood and having your mouth stitched together, lest you accidentally say too much and spoil Marvel Studios’ future plans. Nevertheless, the actress still lets out a coy little tease here that we could see Ghost return to the MCU.

As Hannah John-Kamen reminds Yahoo Movies UK, her character Ghost didn’t die in Ant-Man and the Wasp. That alone could be seen as a huge tease that she knows something that we don’t and that we will see (or well, not see given her powers) Ava Starr in the MCU in the future.

Now, this could just be Hannah John-Kamen having some fun with the interviewer and teasing the possibility without actually having any secret knowledge behind it, but the fact that Ghost is still alive leaves the door wide open for the actress to show up again. So naturally, this leads to the speculation of where and when.

The last we saw Ava Starr in Ant-Man and the Wasp, she was on the verge of death and was saved at the last minute thanks to the recently rescued Janet Van Dyne. The original Wasp used some of her quantum energy to help stabilize Ava, who then went into hiding with Laurence Fishburne’s Bill Foster.

As far as where Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost could return, there are no obvious answers because if there is to be an Ant-Man and the Wasp 2/Ant-Man 3, it is not a part of Marvel’s announced Phase 4 slate. It’s possible that film could be a part of Phase 5, along with what we presume will be many sequels, like Captain Marvel 2, Black Panther 2, etc. But even if there isn’t a third Ant-Man film, there are still other places Ghost could show up.

For one thing, many of the MCU’s actors are lending their voices to reprise their roles in the Disney+ series What… If? That series will have 23 episodes, one for each film in The Infinity Saga. That means that there will be an episode where something in Ant-Man and the Wasp is changed and we get to watch what would have happened. So it is quite possible that Hannah John Kamen’s Ghost could show up in that.

As far as onscreen roles are concerned, in the comics, Ghost (who is a guy) has crossed paths with Black Widow, so it’s possible she could show up in her solo film, but it seems more likely Ghost could fit in to one of the many Disney+ series that will fill out the MCU in Phase 4. Shows like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier or Hawkeye seem like good candidates. Maybe Ant-Man and the Wasp will get their own series. With the MCU expanding at an incredible rate, the future is wide open for Ghost to return and now it seems like she very well might.

In the meantime, you can hear Hannah John-Kamen in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, now streaming on Netflix. Check out our 2019 Release Schedule to see what’s headed to the big screen and for all your movie news, stay tuned to CinemaBlend.
