It’s getting to be gift-giving season, and if you’re buying online, it’s always better to get started early. That’s why I’ve put together this list of gifts perfect for the queer reader in your life. (Even if that’s you. Treat yourself.)
Most of these are under $20 and small enough to slip into a card or a stocking, but there are a few more substantial options at the end. There are bookmarks, enamel pins, stickers, earrings, a hat, and a show-stopping pendant to choose from.
All Access members, be sure to stick around until the end for a bonus section of 13 new queer books out this week!
This button is a timely reminder of the importance of learning queer history. $4
The library-loving queer reader in your life will love using this sticker as an opportunity to show off their anti-book ban, pro-library stance. $5
You can never have too many bookmarks, and this “Trans people have always been here” one is a great addition to any collection. $4
These kitschy lesbian pulp stickers are a great way to decorate ereader cases, water bottles, laptops, and more. $10
It’s never a bad idea to read more queer books, as this enamel pin advises. $7
Another enamel pin option is this progress pride flag bookshelf! $13
These bisexual flag book stack earrings add such a fun bit of queer reader flair to any outfit. The store has lots of different pride flag options. $20
Keep it simple with this “read queer books” corduroy hat. $27
A great gift option for the queer reader in your life is an upgraded edition of a book they love, like this Penguin Speculative Fiction edition of The Gilda Stories by Jewelle Gomez with a new afterword by Alexis Pauline Gumbs. $30
You can go with a first edition, a signed edition, or a special edition. Many Etsy stores offer custom sprayed edge editions, too. I recently treated myself to a gorgeous illuminated edition of Carmilla by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu, illustrated by Rosemary Valero-O’Connell. $100
(I suppose you could buy special editions of something other than sapphic vampire novels, but I wouldn’t know anything about that.)
Finally, you could splurge on this gorgeous Sappho pendant, starting at $67 for the sterling silver version, with options for gold-plated or solid gold—which tops out at $1,600, if you have that kind of money kicking around.
