Jennifer Lawrence to Receive San Sebastian Film Festival’s Donostia Award

Jennifer Lawrence has been named this year’s recipient of the San Sebastian Film Festival‘s prestigious Donostia Award.

The Oscar-winning actress will receive the accolade at a gala on Friday, Sept. 26 at the Kursaal Auditorium, followed by a screening of her latest film,the Cannes-premiering Die My Love, directed by Lynne Ramsay.

Lawrence has starred in acclaimedfilms such asSilver Linings Playbook, which earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2012,American Hustle,Don’t Look Up,Joy, andThe Hunger Gamestrilogy. In 2018, Lawrence expanded her influence behind the camera by co-founding production company Excellent Cadaver.

Together with her producing partner, Justine Ciarrocchi, Lawrence has built a dynamic slate of critically lauded projects, includingCauseway,No Hard Feelings, and the documentariesZurawski v. TexasandBread & Roses.

Die My Love, also starring Robert Pattinson, LaKeith Stanfield, Nick Nolte and Sissy Spacek, will premiereat the Donostia Award Screening at the Spanish festival. The film joins a lineup of movies hitting San Sebastian, including Saoirse Ronan’s Bad Apples, Tessa Thompson’s Hedda and Angelina Jolie’s Couture. Edward Berger‘s Colin Farrell-starringBallad of a Small PlayerandJuliette Binoche‘s directorial debut are among the latest additions to theSan Sebastian Film Festivalslate.

Previous recipients of San Sebastian’s Donostia Award include Cate Blanchett, Denzel Washington, Johnny Depp, Marion Cotillard, Pedro Almodóvar, David Cronenberg and Ethan Hawke.
