The concept of a person trapped in an endless time loop lends itself to sequels — every scene is practically a new sequel —which could explain why the Groundhog Day as a slasher movie flick Happy Death Day continued so seamlessly into the satisfying Happy Death Day 2U. Jessica Rothe plays Tree, a young woman doomed to relive the day of her murder over and over —unless she can figure out who her masked killer is and stop him. In the second film, the loops continue and grow even more complicated. 2U also set up a third film, but six years later we’re still waiting for it. They better release that darn thing before my personal time loop resets.
