AMC is celebrating this early AM that the No. 1 circuit pulled in an-all-time attendance record of 8.8 million people around the world over the Wednesday through Sunday span due to Disney’s Moana 2, Universal’s Wicked and Paramount’s Gladiator II. As a result of this the circuit is claiming that they also saw notable highs for admissions revenue and concessions revenue. All these records per the circuit surpassed the previous Thanksgiving records set during the previous Thanksgiving high of 2018.

Comscore yesterday reported that the 5-day Thanksgiving holiday in U.S./Canada generated a record $420M, outstripping 2018’s which made $315.6M.

Of note, Friday, Nov. 29, was AMC’s second highest total revenue day – admissions revenue plus food & beverage revenue – in history (this was behind Avengers: End Game opening weekend Saturday, April 27, 2019).

Friday, Nov. 29 also repped AMC’s highest attendance Black Friday, second busiest Friday in AMC history, and the highest total revenue on a Friday ever.

Lastly, Thursday, Nov. 28 was the busiest Thanksgiving Day in the Company’s history, based on attendance and admissions revenue.

AMC Chairman and CEO Adam Aron beamed, “This 5-day Thanksgiving period in 2024 was one for the ages. At AMC theatres in the United States and abroad, AMC welcomed more than 8 million moviegoers from Wednesday through Sunday. In the U.S., AMC shattered record after record for attendance, admissions revenue, food & beverage revenue and total revenue. Apparently, movie fans decided in droves that Thanksgiving dinner is made all the better when accompanied by some delicious AMC popcorn, an ice-cold Coca-Cola, and a great film to watch as showcased on AMC’s huge silver screens.”

Aron further added, “We send special congratulations to our friends and partners at Disney on their massive success of Moana 2.  Our continued great appreciation also goes to Universal for Wicked, Paramount for Gladiator II, and MGM for Red One. Beyond these blockbuster movies, there were so many appealing films – big, medium, and small – drawing great crowds to our cinemas this holiday period.  To see so many movies continue to succeed in theatres worldwide is a win for AMC and our shareholders, for our studio partners, and most importantly for our moviegoing guests.”

On Black Friday, there was such a frenzy for tickets, that moviegoers had a 13-minute wait-time on the AMC website. That backlog was soon reconciled.
