Kate had last appeared in public—along with William, Charlotte, sons Prince George, almost 11, and Prince Louis, 6, and King Charles III and Queen Camilla, at the monarch’s Trooping the Colour birthday parade in London in June.

The event marked her first official appearance since last Christmas and took place less than three months after she revealed in a video that she was undergoing cancer treatment.

“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days,” Kate said in a statement on Instagram in June, adding, “My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months.”

The princess also said that while she hoped “to join a few public engagements over the summer,” she knew she was “not out of the woods yet.”

“I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty,” she wrote. ‘Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.”
