Ms. Lauryn Hill has postponed most of the remaining dates of her 25th anniversary tour celebrating The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Hill announced the news on social media, explaining that she has “been battling serious vocal strain for the past month.” In order to recover fully, Hill said that she will have to reschedule the remaining 2023 concerts for early next year, with the exception of her November 25 concert in Philadelphia, which she assured fans is still happening. A new itinerary has not been detailed, but Hill wrote that the rescheduled dates will include additional cities and some overseas dates. Find Hill’s full statement below.
Hill kicked off the Miseducation anniversary tour in September, with concerts co-headlined by the reunited Fugees. A few dates into the trek, however, Hill had to postpone her October 23 concert at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Arena, writing on social media that she needed to rest her voice “to prevent “any more serious strain or damage to [her] vocal cords.”
Hill also had to call off her show in Fort Worth, Texas, on October 30, writing on social media “I fought through the last couple shows, pushing my voice, and masking the injury with medication. This isn’t safe or sustainable.”
In her post from today, Hill wrote that she “made it through each show by taking prescribed prednisone, but this can be detrimental to the body when taken in large amounts over long periods of time.” She added that, in addition to resting her vocal cords, she needs to get to a state where she can “discontinue the medication completely.”
