Foo Fighters were on Saturday Night Live last night for the first time since 2020. Dave Grohl and his band played “Rescued,” and were joined by H.E.R. for a rendition of “The Glass.” Watch the SNL performances below. Also below, watch Foo Fighters’ SNL promo with host Nate Bargatze.

Foo Fighters made their Saturday Night Live debut in 1995, featuring William Goldsmith on drums. By the band’s second appearance on the show, in 1999, Taylor Hawkins had taken over as the drummer. The group delivered more SNL performances in the 2000s and 2010s, most recently playing the NBC program with Hawkins in November 2020. Last night’s performance was Foo Fighters’ first time since their 1995 debut that they took the Studio 8H stage without Hawkins.

Foo Fighters had been scheduled to perform on Saturday Night Live in May, but the episode was canceled due to the Writers Guild of America strike. The NBC show returned earlier this month for its 49th season after the resolution of the strike. Foo Fighters follow previous musical guests Ice Spice and Bad Bunny.
