Exclusive Interview with Osmunda Music

Today we are chatting with the talented Osmunda Music. Welcome! Let’s dive right in – tell us all about how you got started and how you ended up where you are now!

My love for music started when I was really young & was inspired by my sweet momma who would play her favorite tunes as she cleaned the house. I started guitar and singing pretty young — in elementary school — and I continued because of my eternal love for music. I did a bunch of covers and performances. It wasn’t until I moved to California without my guitar that I realized I needed to make music! I took a break from my job at Warner Bros., took my guitar and backpack, made my first album Munda, and the rest is history! I’ve since opened Earthstar Creation Center with my husband Michael Vest, released a few albums, and recently started getting into the interest of licensing.

You have a new album out. We love the vibe. Tell us all about it and what you are looking most forward to with the release of the album? 

The album is not out yet! My album is coming out this Friday, August 18th (please correct). I’ve written, produced, and recorded a lot of songs during the making of this album, so I really had to pick which songs fit best together. I worked with different collaborators and were somehow able to merge all the tracks together. It was a lot of fun, so I’m looking forward to people listening to these songs, having fun with them, and enjoying them! The whole album is about supporting each other and being there for each other, so hopefully this album inspires people to do just that!

I know this is probably impossible to pick but do you have a favorite song on the album? If so, why is it the one? 

Instead of picking a song, I’ll pick a repeated line that I have in a few of the songs: take my hand. It’s a recurring theme in the album, whether it’s about going inside yourself or being there for each other.

Do you have any plans to tour this album? We would love to catch you live. 

My dream would be to do a world tour, but I have a 12 year old son, so I have to be very choosy with my time and purpose. I will be performing in Los Angeles in the meantime and will keep you all updated! Thank you in advance for wanting to come out to see me live. Keep posted for a live streamed performance!

What do you hope listeners take away from this album? 

I hope that they would take away the clear message that it’s okay to feel our feelings. Every person on this planet has permission to feel sad, happy, loved, and to express themselves how they wish. We don’t have to be happy all the time; it’s okay to experience our journey as being a human.
