A Giant Dog Announce New Album Bite, Share New Song “Different Than”: Listen

The Austin band’s new full-length is about gender dysphoria

A Giant Dog have returned with a new album. Bite is out August 25 via Merge. Described as a concept album about gender dysphoria, the follow-up to 2017’s Toy, is set in a utopia called Avalonia. It’s introduced by the lead single “Different Than.” Listen to it below.

“Within our previous albums, the subject matter, the lyrics are all very personal, based on our experiences—self-centered, even,” vocalist Sabrina Ellis said in a statement. “In making this conceptual album, we had to find ourselves within, or project ourselves into, the principal characters. We developed them, got to know their minds, emotions, and motivations, and then expressed those in nine songs. The songs aren’t demonstrative as in musical theater. Instead, the songs are heated moments, internal expressions that stand on their own.”
