Donna Summer’s possessions, including dresses, annotated lyrics, awards, and paintings, will go on sale on June 15 in an online auction through Christie’s. The items were gathered in recent years from the late diva’s Nashville home, where they had sat mostly untouched since her death in 2012. Christie’s estimates a total haul of $200,000 to $300,000, with a portion set aside for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Save the Music Foundation, and the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
The auction includes handwritten lyrics for “Now I Need You,” an annotated lyric of “On the Road,” the glittery dress from her “Unconditional Love” video, concert gowns, and assorted sunglasses and pumps. There is also a silver goblet that she kept onstage to drink caffeine-free Pepsi, which her children stirred flat to avoid giving her gas, The New York Times notes.
