Royal Trux’s Neil Hagerty Arrested After Allegedly Attacking Police Officer in Denver

Hagerty is being held in custody for investigation of second degree assault on a peace officer and disarming a peace officer

Neil Michael Hagerty, known for his work with Royal Trux and the Howling Hex, was arrested in Denver today (April 14), online records show. He’s being held in custody for investigation of second degree assault on a peace officer and disarming a peace officer. He is expected to appear in court tomorrow morning.

In a Twitter thread, the Denver Police Department claimed that Hagerty attacked an officer who was responding to a welfare check at 12:30 a.m. The musician allegedly “[ripped] off [the officer’s] police badge and then [used] it to cut the officer.”

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by The Denver Gazzette, Hagerty also allegedly “attempted to disarm [a] second officer by attempting to pull [the] office[r]’s Taser from the holster.”

“The three officers involved suffered cuts and abrasions during the struggle. All have been released from the hospital,” the Denver Police Department claimed.

A few years later, Royal Trux reissued their catalog and released a new album, White Stuff, before effectively disbanding again. Hagerty released the Howling Hex album Knuckleball Express in 2020.
