Soccer Mommy has shared a demo from her Sometimes, Forever sessions. “Darkness Forever (Sophie’s Version)” is an early draft of the song, released today in celebration of Sophie Allison’s favorite holiday: Halloween. Check it out below.

“This version of ‘Darkness Forever’ is really exciting for me because it’s kind of what got me inspired to start working on the rest of the album,” Allison said in a press release. “It felt new and fresh, and I had a lot of fun making the demo. When I was done with it, I felt very ready to work on more stuff for the record.”

In addition to sharing “Darkness Forever (Sophie’s Version),” Allison has released a limited-edition “Darkness T-Shirt,” designed by Justus Proffitt. The shirt is printed with phosphorescent ink, so that the design looks white in daylight, but turns green and glows in the dark.

Allison released Sometimes, Forever over the summer. The follow-up to her 2020 LP Color Theory was produced by Daniel Lopatin (aka Oneohtrix Point Never). Read Pitchfork’s feature profile “Soccer Mommy Slays Her Demons.”
