Like Thanos collecting all six of the Infinity Stones to become an all-powerful being in the Avengers movies, red carpet darling and fashion’s favorite It girl Zendaya just added one more feat to her very own gauntlet—minus the whole trying to wipe out civilization like giant purple villain. For her next trick, Zendaya will enter the world of Pierpaolo Piccioli and join his Valentino family as its newest ambassador.
The announcement arrives with a series of images of Zendaya clutching Valentino’s Garavani Roman Stud accessories while draped in a flouncy white high-neck dress in one photo, and a lace embroidered off-the-shoulder dress in another, both from the fashion house’s 2021 Diary Collection. “A feminine force full of emotional vibrancy, she interprets the meaning of each creation she wears,” the brand said of Zendaya on the site.
“The reason why we chose Zendaya as the new face for Valentino is because she perfectly embodies and represents what Valentino is and stands for, today. She is a powerful and fierce young woman that uses her talent and her work to express herself, her values and her generation as well,” creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli added. Zendaya joins Lady Gaga, who was recently casted as ambassador for the house’s Voce Viva perfume.
“I am honored to have been chosen as the face of Valentino. I’m so excited to begin this amazing collaboration with Pierpaolo and the entire Valentino family,” Zendaya said in a statement. The actress is no amateur in the fashion world, having scored campaigns for the likes of Bulgari and Lancome, and collaborated on her very own clothing line with Tommy Hilfiger. When she’s not fronting campaigns, she’s hard at work portraying roles like Rue in HBO’s 2019 summer hit Euphoria—the role that made her any Emmy Award winner for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama—or starring alongside Timothée Chalamet in the upcoming sci-fi film Dune. This Sunday, Euphoria returns to our screens with part one of a two-episode special on HBO.
