Last week, Arcade Fire performed a live, socially-distant version of “Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)” to celebrate The Suburbs’ 10th anniversary. The performance by Régine Chassagne and Win Butler was part of a livestream hosted by Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts. Chassagne and Butler also performed “The Suburbs” and “Haiti” off 2004’s Funeral.

Arcade Fire have now excerpted “Sprawl II.” They wrote in the caption, “The Suburbs is 10 years old now. Can’t wait to all play music together again. Until then, stay safe and well.” Watch the rendition of “Sprawl II” below.

In April, Butler told fans that “work is flowing” on the band’s followup to 2017’s Everything Now. “We had been exploring a lot of lyrical and musical themes that feel almost eerily related to what is happening now,” he wrote, referencing COVID-19.
