Studio 54 Launches Record Label

Studio 54, the nightclub at the center of the disco scene in 1970s New York City, has launched a record label called Studio 54 Music. Its debut release is Night Magic Vol. 1, a four-track EP featuring newly reimagined versions of disco club tracks such as Don Ray’s “Got to Have Loving” and T-Connection’s “At Midnight.” Check out the first three tracks below.

Night Magic shares a name with the five-month Brooklyn Museum exhibition that premiered on March 13, just before the city was locked down due to the coronavirus pandemic. The band features former Tower of Power lead singer Tom Bowes (vocals on “At Midnight”); Escort frontwoman Nicki B (vocals on “Got To Have Lovin”); and Hamilton music director Jonny Dinklage, the R&B singer Adeline and funk singer RickExpress. The record was produced by Escort’s JKriv and co-produced by Morgan Wiley (LCD Soundsystem, Hercules & Love Affair).
