It’s no secret that the stars of Supernatural are no strangers to charity, but they’ve really outdone themselves with this one. In a recent charity partnership with Hot Topic, Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, and the whole Supernatural family actually managed to raise $280,000 for charity!
On Sept. 13, otherwise known to the world as “Supernatural Day,” Hot Topic commemorated the anniversary of the show’s premiere by releasing a new t-shirt and promising to donate 100 percent of the proceeds to the non-profit Random Acts of Kindness, which provides relief for Hurricane Dorian survivors as well as funding random acts of kindness for those in need. The shirt design hosted a “Possessed and Obsessed” graphic on the front, with a nostalgic “End of the Road” design on the back, so it’s no wonder these things went like hotcakes when made available for purchase.
In a video posted to Instagram and Twitter, Misha Collins and Jensen Ackles announced that though they’d anticipated they’d raise somewhere around $5,000 for Random Acts of Kindness with the new shirt, they actually ended up raising $280,000 — no, Jensen, not $28. That would just be silly.

This new charitable campaign is one of many the Supernatural family has engaged in over the years, most notably their 2017 efforts for Hurricane Harvey relief, which ended up raising over $468,000 via a Crowdrise campaign. It seems the boys take saving people seriously on and off screen!
Supernatural returns for its 15th and final season Thursday, Oct. 10 at 8/7c on The CW.
