Remember when you were 7 years old and Are You Afraid of the Dark? forever scarred some deep, dark part of you? You can now re-experience that life-changing terror with Nickelodeon’s new Are You Afraid of the Dark?

The trailer for the reboot of the popular ’90s show was revealed by IGN on Thursday, and it looks like this new version, conceived as three hourlong episodes, is going to turn out to be just as spooky as the original. The trailer finds a new group of kids gathered around a campfire for a meeting of the Midnight Society (complete with that ridiculously flammable dust to throw on said fire), during which a girl new to the group tells the horrifying tale of a “The Carnival of Doom.”

The twist this time? The new series is apparently breaking the fundamental rule of the original Are You Afraid of the Dark? — coincidentally enough, the one that kept us from wetting the bed every night — by later dropping the Midnight Society in that same, very real carnival.

How much more terrifying is this show going to be if all the scary stories these kids tell each other turn out to be real?

Are You Afraid of the Dark? premieres Oct. 11 at 7/c on Nickelodeon.
