Looking for something new to watch on Netflix? Here is a list of all the best new shows and movies released on Netflix the week of Sept. 13-19.
Well, we may not be doing this article much longer, because who knows how long Netflix is going to be around with all these new streaming services coming cheaper. Did you hear how much Apple’s streaming service is going to be? Five bucks a month! You can get two and three-fifths Apple accounts for just one Netflix account (the minimum tier that’s acceptable, anyway). And with Disney+ about to launch at just seven bones, it’s possible to have all of whatever Apple and Disney will offer for less than it costs to have Netflix. Yikes! Thankfully, an easy way around this problem is to move back in with your parents and split accounts with them so you can have everything. Let me know if you need me to solve any of your other problems.

The Biggest Releases
Unbelievable
Netflix may have a sleeper hit on its hands with Unbelievable, a crime drama that ends with a lot more than just figuring out whodunnit. Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning Pro Publica article “An Unbelievable Story of Rape“, Unbelievable begins with a woman (Justified‘s Kaitlyn Dever, or Booksmart‘s Kaitlyn Dever if you missed one of the greatest shows of all time) taking back a rape claim, and the ensuing investigation into a series of rapes with similar details to her story. Toni Collette and Merritt Wever play detectives looking into the string of sexual assaults, and between the two of them and Dever, you’re looking at a clinic on acting. Unbelievable takes familiar parts of a cop case and reconstructs them into a powerful statement on victims and victim blaming.
The Ranch, Part 7
Ashton Kutcher is back as a washed-up college athlete who winds up back on his dad’s ranch in Netflix’s most popular conservative-leaning multi-camera comedy. Kurtwood Smith drops by again to make you long for more That ’70s Show. (Trailer)

Marianne, Season 1
Go grab a multi-pack of Depends undergarments, because you are going to scare yourself incontinent while watching this French horror series. An author who has always been plagued by a witch (join the club) writes books to keep the witch at bay, somehow, but then her characters start coming to life AND the witch is around all the time? That’s no way to get rid of your demons! Use therapy like the rest of us, lady!

Very white comedienne Chelsea Handler gives you a lesson about white privilege by talking about it with other very white people. OK, I purposefully made that sound a lot worse than it is, but she says that in the trailer, so… (Trailer)
The Chef Show, Season 2
Chef Roy Choi and director Jon Favreau meet up again to talk about food, cook food, eat food, fall in love with food, marry food, have kids with food, send their food kids to college, have mid-food crisis, food retire, and die with food. This show is about food! (Trailer)
Tall Girl
This film is about a tall girl. The high school rom-drama-com has all the hallmarks of the many movies that ripped off John Hughes, including an insecure female lead, a plucky male best friend who is secretly in love with her, and a new guy at school who just so happens to be hot. It’s a Psychedelic Furs song away from being Incredibly Tall in Pink. (Trailer)
Top Boy, Season 3
This show is about a top boy. When the British series Top Boy was canceled in 2014, you were probably all, “No! Top Boy was canceled! Please save the show, Canadian rapper Drake!” Well, Drake heard you, and he’s stepped in as producer and revived the show about drug dealers for a 10-episode third season on Netflix. (Trailer)
Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress: The Battle of Unato, Season 1
Another big-eyed anime waifu is coming your way, but this one wields a shotgun with which she blasts holes in zombies in this post-apocalyptic manga. (Trailer)
Los Tigres del Norte at Folsom Prison
The insanely popular Mexican norteño band Los Tigres del Norte went to Folsom Prison to perform 50 years after Johnny Cash, and cameras just so happened to be there to put together this documentary. How fortuitous! (Trailer / Sunday, Sept. 15)
The Last Kids on Earth
This animated series wants you to believe that a bunch of 13-year olds can get off their damn phones and iPads long enough to save the world from a zombie and monster apocalypse. (Trailer / Tuesday, Sept. 17)
When the Camellia Blooms
Korea loves its rom-coms so much that they don’t even need to have trailers that make any sense whatsoever. All I got was a guy really likes this girl, so he asks her out but makes a really big deal out of it. (Trailer / Wednesday, Sept. 18)
