Legacies Casts a Potential New Love Interest for Alaric

As you might have noticed during the first season of Legacies, Mystic Falls has become a hotspot for all kinds of creepy-crawly creatures, which is probably why it’s a good thing there’s a new sheriff in town.

TVLine reports that Legacies has cast Bianca Kajlich as Sheriff Mac, a single mother and career woman. Does this mean poor Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig) finally realized that Mystic Falls is a hellscape and he needs to get as far away from it as possible? We hope he’s sipping margaritas on a beach somewhere — he deserves it!

Though Sheriff Mac’s character description teases a troubled past, it looks like love might be on the horizon for this season since “she’s willing to open herself up to a new romance when the opportunity arises.” Looks like Alaric (Matthew Davis) might have yet another love interest, but let’s hope this one sticks. That guy burns through ladies like Monopoly money.

As previously reported, Sheriff Mac will have two children, Maya and Ethan. Bianca Santos will play Maya, a flirtatious new student at the Salvatore school. Mac’s other child, Ethan, will be played by Leo Howard, and he’s described as “a competitive athlete and good-hearted new student at Mystic Falls High School.” Interesting that these two siblings will wind up at different schools, no? We’re more curious than ever now about what kind of magical kid Maya will turn out to be.

Legacies premieres Thursday, Oct. 10 at 9/8c on The CW.
