Earth, Wind & Fire, Linda Ronstadt to Receive Kennedy Center Honors

The 2019 Kennedy Center Honors recipients have been announced. The members of iconic band Earth, Wind & Fire are among the honorees, as are singer-songwriter Linda Ronstadt, San Francisco Symphony music director Michael Tilson Thomas, actress Sally Field, and the children’s television program “Sesame Street,” as NPR reports. The awards will be presented during a ceremony at the Kennedy Center on December 8 and then televised on December 15 via CBS.

Earth, Wind & Fire bandleader Maurice White died in 2016. The Kennedy Center Honor will be accepted by Philip Bailey, bassist Verdine White and percussionist Ralph Johnson. Both Earth, Wind & Fire and Linda Ronstadt were previously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
