Lionsgate has set a March 26, 2027 release date for supernatural revenge thriller Day Drinker starring Johnny Depp. The date was originally set for the first installment of The Resurrection of the Christ, which the studio said Thursday is moving to that May.
The film, also starring Madelyn Cline and Penélope Cruz, is directed by Marc Webb, written by Zach Dean, and produced by Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, who produce theJohn Wickfranchise for Lionsgate, along with Adam Kolbrenner, Zach Dean and Nathan Kahane.
Logline: A private-yacht bartender (Cline) encounters a mysterious onboard guest (Depp). They soon find themselves entangled with a criminal figure (Cruz) and connected in ways no one saw coming.
The project reps the fourth time Depp and Cruz have starred together in a movie afterBlow,Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger TidesandMurder on the Orient Express.
Day Drinkeris executive produced by 30West. Lionsgate will presentDay Drinkerin association with 30West. The film is a Thunder Road / IN.2/ Nostromoproduction.
As just reported, Lionsgate also moved The Resurrection of the Christ, Part Two, out by a year to May 2028.
